Becoming a Member

Membership Application


Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Beaufort Yacht & Sailing Club (c.1884). While holding strong to its sailing roots, the Club has expanded to meet the interests of its members in many areas. Below is a sample of some of the activities and amenities that the Club offers:

  • Sailing, race series and regattas
  • Deepwater dock and ramps
  • On-shore boat storage options
  • Club owned sailboats, kayaks, rowing shells and paddleboards
  • Swimming pool and bath house
  • Lighted tennis and pickleball courts
  • Lessons and summer camps
  • Learn to sail programs
  • Lively social calendar

BYSC also has a strong volunteer base that helps the Club with conducting a wide variety of activities and events which keeps the membership dues reasonable. We look forward to continuing that volunteer focus as we accept new members.

Below are the steps for the membership application process:

  1. Download and complete membership application.
  2. Select a Primary Sponsor. This must be a BYSC Stockholder and Active Member. If you do not know of a prospective sponsor, please contact the General Manager at gm@byscnet.com or 843-522-8216.
  3. Have your primary sponsor sign and provide a short recommendation on your application form.
  4. Attend at least 2 BYSC activities/events with your Sponsor. This gives club members a chance to meet you and answer any questions you may have.
  5. Ask your primary sponsor to help you obtain 2 additional sponsor signatures on your application from stockholding members.
  6. Return your completed application with 50% of the appropriate Initiation Fee either to your primary sponsor or directly to the Club Office.
  7. Once your application is approved by the board, the initiation fee deposit will be cashed and held until your membership is moved from the waitlist to active status, at which time the balance of the initiation fee will be due and payable. Once you become a member, the full amount of the initiation fee is non-refundable.
